The Shearer Method, Book II–Classic Guitar Developments
continues the journey begun in Book I, offering plentiful resources for developing technique and reading. Technical areas include rest stroke, arpeggios, barring, slurs, ornaments, and chord studies. Musical focus includes rhythm, sight-reading, advanced pre-reading, and visualizing music in 12 different keys in a duet format, called inventions. There are three inventions per key–graded in rhythmic presentation from easy, intermediate, to more challenging. Each part is playable by the student with the top part on upper register and the bottom part on the lower register. As with all Shearer Method Series, duets are support with a media disc that includes TNT2 audio files, enabling the student to solo/mute either of the duet parts or to slow down/speed up/loop tracks for more refined practice. In addition the book includes references to the Shearer Online supplement.
